About the Smoleks

Hi! My name is Savannah Smolek. I’ll be the main author of Sightseeing Smoleks. I’ve been fascinated with traveling the world since I was little. My husband, Tucker, is new to the travel bug fever.

A little about us before we get to the wandering side of our lives…

Tucker and I met in June 2019. By July, he bought a ring, and we were engaged in December (crazy, right?!). We married in 2021 in our home state of Indiana.

We now live in Hebron with our nine animals. Yes, nine. We have four dogs and five cats. I’m a Registered Veterinary Technician and head of my department. Tucker is a Union Carpenter.

We decided early on that we wanted to delay our honeymoon to make it our biggest trip yet. And it’s finally right around the corner! Coming March 2025, we’ll be embarking on a 3.5-week vacation to the United Kingdom. Excited is an understatement!

But traveling became a staple for us early on in different ways…

Travel Obsessed Early On

Tucker’s version of traveling as a kid was a long-standing tradition of visiting the happiest place on Earth with his entire family. Though my family had taken my sister and me a couple of times growing up, we never went all out the way the Smolek Family did.

They would stay near the Disney World property, visit all the parks, know all the best foods, and see the greatest shows. It was crazy. Being a fellow Disney-obsessed follower as well, his family took me on their most recent trip in 2021.

Not long after, Tucker and I decided to plan our first trip as a couple to Disney. There were some bumps in the road, but overall, we enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

My experience with traveling growing up was a little different. My parents had a camper that we would take all over the United States during breaks from school. Early in my life, I visited beautiful and historical places. It opened my eyes to the truly amazing world we live in and how much there was out there to discover and learn.

By the time I graduated high school, I was able to proudly say I had visited over half of the United States and seen most of our country’s historical landmarks. Places like Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone, Ellis Island, the Lincoln Memorial, Niagra Falls, and the St. Louis Arch were already marked off on my travel bucket list amongst many others.

Our Next Adventure

As I said before, our next trip planned is our honeymoon in March 2025. It’s what we hope to write about most with the start of this travel blog. What’s more, this trip has been in the planning stages for four years! So, the trip will be life-changing, I’m sure. How could it not? With an itinerary taking us from Iceland to Ireland and then all over the United Kingdom, it has to be outstanding.

I hope to start blogging all about the planning phases we went through to get to this point. But of course, the best content will be following up with the actual trip.
